First Game Jam


This is the very first jam I joined in, the VimJam.

Since this was my first game jam, I want it to be very basic so I settled to a Platformer. But as beginner I wanted learn something new along the process. I tried to implement the Hinge Joint feature in Unity. Luckily, I was able to implement it in terms of the application I wanted it in. I also implemented the A* Pathfinding algorithm for the enemy and I was also able to do it. (Hoping the use of that kind of library is allowed in the jam, and based on what I understand in the post, it is).

During the making of the sounds part of the game, I had a hard time thinking of using some pre made sound effects due to the licensing issues because I haven't fully understand the law and mechanics behind it. So I just went basic and did what the authors said about the attribution on their own assets.

I made a background music for the game but when I tried to have it played during the playtest, it didn't feel right so I scrapped some parts of the music and somehow it was better.

I have learned many things during the process, I am hoping to use those and upcoming knowledge to my own commercial games and other game jams I will join in.

Also, hoping to win in this one. :D
